Our Animal Sanctuary
Our Animal Sanctuary
Many of our animals came to live with us because they had nowhere else to go. Some of our dogs were rescued from building sites and breeding farms, our herd of ponies and mules lost the land they were living on so we built paddocks and running grounds for them, and our piggy clan started out as three micro pigs, who grew and grew and grew!
Their owner quickly realised there was nothing ‘micro’ about them.
So we offered to rehome them at Flow along with their burgeoning piglets, because we’d rather have them as friends than food!
In providing a loving sanctuary for these animals, we get to enjoy their amazing characters, to learn from them, and to create beautiful shared experiences for you.
Animal Welfare First and Foremost
Animal Welfare First and Foremost
We want all our animal companions to live full, flourishing lives, so we focus our care to meet these three critical needs:
1. Physical needs
A healthy, nutritional diet, access to fresh water, a comfortable living environment, exercise, routine vaccinations, and veterinary care.
2. Mental Needs
Ensuring they are always free from fear, discomfort, stress and distress, and providing various environmental enrichment features so they have the freedom to make choices.

3. Natural Calling
3. Natural Calling
All animals have a need to express innate, species-specific behaviors so we provide opportunities for them to do this. For example, ponies enjoy social bonding and allogrooming (grooming each other), bunnies love to dig and forage for food, pigs root in the soil, and roosters love a good dust bath to stay fresh and clean.
We have over 100 animals – each with a Chinese and English name that reveals their unique and loving characters. If you would like to sponsor one of our animals, please contact us for information on our Sponsorship Programs.

buzz the pony
The Littlest Mom
Our ponies arrived in a very sorry and neglected state in 2011. On New Year’s Eve, Buzz – who was the littlest pony – gave birth to beautiful Bella. With love and care the herd all started to thrive and Buzz gave birth to Bond the following year. Both Buzz’s children are much bigger than her but don’t let her size fool you – she eats like a horse!

general & kay
With or Without You
This pair of retired working mules have a wonderful love-hate relationship, not dissimilar to many human couples. They bicker all day long but if separated will whine and pine for each other! They joined us in 2012.

PANDA
Our Canine Matriarch
Panda was the first dog to join us at Flow and has pretty much overseen the entire evolution of the sanctuary. She is the perfect matriarch caring not just for her own 7 pups, but also kindly to rabbits and turkeys, so she is one of only 3 dogs allowed to roam freely throughout the farm. If you see her and her eldest son Sky on patrol, just wave them by as they take their job very seriously!

sol & luna
Son and Mom
We rescued Sol and his mother Luna from a construction site where they were chained to a rusty pole and used as security barking machines. Now safe and cared for we can see their true, gentle temperaments: Sol is extremely affectionate, goofy and loves his belly rubbed. Luna is sweet, smart and oh so charming.

Lily
Night’s Best Friend
A soiled cardboard box was Lily’s entire universe. Her puppies were taken away by a backyard breeder, litter after litter until we rescued her in 2013. Even with such maltreatment, Lily still loves and trusts humans. She is irresistibly sweet and will do anything for a cuddle. She has become inseparable from Night, and they make an unusual but adorable couple.

day & night
An Amazing Escape
Day & Night both stumbled on to our land, just months old. We suspect they escaped from a dog meat farm, as black mongrels are popular ‘meat’ dogs in Zhongshan. Since then they have both grown into loving dogs with literally day and night characters: Day is boisterous and bursting with energy whilst Night is calm, composed – the perfect gentleman.

The 3 Tenors
2 Turkeys and a Camera-Shy Rooster
So called because these three love to exercise their vocal talents. They communicate with each other using over 24 vocalizations, and did you know that male turkeys blush? So if you see Pavarotti turn from pale grey to red or even blue, he probably hit a wrong note!

Dong Dong
This Cassanova Rules.
We have 12 pigs in total, although Dong Dong would love to keep increasing that number! The big boss of the pig clan, Dong Dong woos the ladies with his confident and charming swagger. He loves to spend his entire day snoozing under a banana tree, except when he sniffs out the chance of a massage! Watch him collapse at your feet and roll over for a good body rub.

Oink
The Athlete
Oink is rather unique amongst pigs since she loves her organic greens and daily exercise. Watch her positively sprint across the pen whenever she sniffs a fresh veggie delivery!

Almond
Prince of Bunnies
Curious and confident, Almond seems more at home with his human friends than his furry companions. He also has a princely appetite accepting only the finest oaten hay accompanied by freshly chopped greens if you please.

Leo & Taro
Strictly Not Sharing!
A middle ear infection has given Taro a permanent head tilt, but don’t let this fool you – when it comes to carrots he’s as fit as the best and will do anything to keep his prized possession away from Leo!
